ZUMBA fitness at Starlight Studios
Get fit with the hottest wave of exercise/dance going. It’s ZUMBA fitness….a Latin music based aerobic dance and fitness program. If you want to lose a few pounds or just get in better shape, ZUMBA fitness is for you. We offer the one hour class three times a week using “Punch Card” tuition. Buy a punch card enabling you to come to 10 different sessions. Come when you can or come when your schedule permits. There are different times to fit into your busy day. The “Punch Card” means if you miss a class you are not penalized. See Jannabeth or Jane for more information.
Creative Movement (ages 2-3) – 30 minutes
Class introduces locomotor skills, listening & following musical verbal directions, socialization, equipment manipulation (hoops, balls, parachute, ect…), encourages individual use of creative ideas in their own body movement & self-control.
Combination I (ages 3-4) – 45 minutes
Class continues to build on body awareness & use of individual creative movement ideas. Basic fundamental Ballet positions & terms are introduced; movement directions & use of special floor patterns become more structured. Basic Tap is introduced.
Combination II (ages 4-5) – 1 hour
Students are taught more basic Ballet positions & terms, along with Tap. Tap helps to develop more coordination & use of basic rhythms.
Combination III (ages 5-6) – 1 hour and 30 minutes
Students continue to learn basic Ballet and Tap technique. Jazz is introduced in Combination III as well as stage direction.
Combination IV (ages 6-8)- 120 minutes
Students continue learning technique in ballet, tap and jazz.
Ballet--1 hour
Basic fundamentals of Ballet steps & terminology including barre, center floor & traveling combinations.
Pointe--45 mins – 1 hr.
Based on: (1) recommendation of the instructor; (2) 5 or more years of Ballet training; for the Ballet lover!!
Jazz –1 hour
Explore many different jazz dance styles using updated music. Movements focus on isolations, stretches, body alignment, strength building, and center & across the floor combinations.
Tap – 1 hr
The class includes basic Tap warm up skills & tap steps while learning terms. Combinations center & across the floor are incorporated & speed & rhythms increase as levels progress.
NEW!!!......Lyrical/Modern(beginning – advanced levels) – 1 hour
This class is a style of dance that includes interpretation of the music. Styles might include a blend of Ballet, Jazz & Modern dance techniques. Improvisation & creativity are an important part of the dancer’s background to aid in progression.
Hip Hop – 1 hr
Explores new & fun dance moves while learning proper jazz warm-ups to stretch & prepare the body to dance. Choreography and music selected are age appropriate.
Musical Theatre– 1 hour
Dance movements are combined with acting skills and character interpretation. In recent years, musical theater classes have performed such memorable numbers as "Hairspray" and “Burlesque” and “Cabaret”.
Adult Classes- 1 hour
Classes in tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop are a wonderful form of conditioning and are extremely enjoyable. You're never too old to dance. Explore many different jazz dance styles using updated music. Movements focus on isolations, stretches, body alignment, strength building, and center & across the floor combinations.
